Highlights
- Nova Minerals (ASX:NVA) discovers antimony grades up to 54.1% at Styx.
- Exploration advances critical mineral supply for US defense needs.
- Results include gold values reaching 9.8 g/t alongside antimony findings.
Nova Minerals (ASX:NVA) has announced significant discoveries of antimony at the Styx occurrence within its Estelle Gold and Critical Minerals Project in Alaska. The company’s recent sampling campaign has uncovered exceptional grades, with antimony reaching up to 54.1% and gold values of up to 9.8 g/t, reinforcing the strategic importance of the project.
The Estelle project, situated in the Tintina Gold Belt, is gaining recognition for its contribution to critical mineral supply chains. Antimony, designated as a critical mineral by the US Department of Interior, is essential for national security and economic interests. Currently, both the US and European Union are entirely reliant on imports for this mineral.
Styx Sampling Success
The primary Styx vein features a one-meter-thick quartz-stibnite vein comprising 50% stibnite, visible over a 20-meter outcrop. This year, Nova collected 11 rock samples from the Styx vein, six of which exhibited more than 1 g/t gold or 1% antimony. Highlights include samples with 54.1%, 39.1%, and 28.0% antimony content. The mineralisation extends beyond the main vein, with additional splays indicating a 150-meter strike length.
During the 2024 exploration program, Nova collected 511 soil samples, 225 rock samples, and five tonnes of bulk material. Among these, a 500-kilogram bulk sample was taken for metallurgical testing to assess the Styx vein system further.
Critical Minerals for Strategic Supply
Nova Minerals, through its subsidiary Alaska Range Resources LLC, has leveraged its membership in the Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC) to accelerate its grant application process with the US Department of Defense (DoD). This initiative aligns with the company’s goal to support secure supply chains for critical materials.
Antimony’s growing demand underscores its value, particularly for defense applications. Nova’s systematic exploration efforts aim to contribute to these supply chains while strengthening its position in the global market for critical minerals.
Future Exploration
Nova Minerals is continuing its exploration efforts across its extensive Estelle project, which spans over 500 square kilometers. Plans include updating 3D Vrify visualisation decks and releasing additional assay results as they become available.
The ongoing exploration and sampling activities underline Nova Minerals' commitment to identifying and delineating resources critical to both US and European supply chains. The latest findings highlight the strategic potential of the Estelle project as a significant contributor to critical mineral supplies.
