Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) has commenced a 10,000-metre aircore drilling program at the Wallbrook Gold Project, situated approximately 140 kilometers northeast of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. This initiative marks a continuation of the company’s methodical regional exploration efforts, with the current focus being on expanding the mineralised footprint at target MC2.1 and testing three additional shallow regional targets of priority. The drilling is scheduled to take place throughout October, with assay results anticipated in November.

The Wallbrook Gold Project, located in a region renowned for its gold production, represents a strategic focus for Nexus Minerals. The company's exploration strategy at this site revolves around systematically targeting and expanding areas of known mineralisation while also exploring new opportunities. The current drill program is an integral part of this broader strategy, aimed at both capitalizing on previous drilling successes and identifying new areas of mineral potential.

At the core of the exploration plan is the MC2.1 target, which has already yielded promising results in earlier drilling campaigns. The current 10,000-metre drill program is designed to further extend the mineralised zone at this high-priority target, potentially increasing its significance within the overall project. Nexus is also directing resources toward testing three additional regional targets, identified based on geological data and their proximity to key structural, lithological, and alteration features known to be associated with gold mineralisation.

Nexus Minerals’ managing director, Andy Tudor, highlighted the importance of this drilling campaign, stating that the aircore rig's mobilisation signals continued momentum at the Wallbrook Gold Project. Tudor emphasized that the drill program aims to build on the achievements of the previous campaign, extending the mineralisation at target MC2.1 and exploring new regional opportunities. He noted that with current market conditions favorable and the project demonstrating both technical and commercial viability, the timing is opportune for expanding the company's exploration efforts at Wallbrook.

The aircore drilling program at Wallbrook follows the success of an earlier regional campaign completed in July 2024, which delivered strong results. During that program, significant widths and high gold grades were reported from drilling at the MC2.1 target. The current campaign seeks to build upon those findings, with a particular focus on expanding the mineralised footprint at MC2.1 while also evaluating three new prospects. These prospects have been strategically selected based on their alignment with geological features, such as structure and lithology, which have shown to be important in previous gold discoveries.

The exploration approach taken by Nexus Minerals is designed to efficiently increase the near-surface ounce portfolio at Wallbrook. By focusing on shallow discovery opportunities, the company aims to uncover additional mineralisation with minimal overburden, potentially reducing the costs and complexity of future development. The three new regional targets identified for this drilling campaign represent opportunities to discover new gold zones that could complement the existing resources at Wallbrook.

This aircore drilling program is the second regional exploration effort undertaken by Nexus at the Wallbrook project, reinforcing the company’s commitment to thoroughly exploring and evaluating the area’s potential. The decision to focus on shallow targets with geological links to gold anomalism reflects a data-driven approach to exploration, where available information on structure, lithology, and alteration is used to guide the drilling process.

Nexus Minerals' exploration activities at Wallbrook are part of a broader strategy to unlock the value of this promising gold project. By continuing to explore and expand known mineralisation while simultaneously investigating new targets, the company is positioning itself to enhance the project's overall resource base. The systematic nature of this exploration effort reflects a commitment to maximizing the potential of the Wallbrook Gold Project and delivering new discoveries that can contribute to the long-term viability of the project.

With the 10,000-metre drilling program underway and results expected in the coming months, Nexus Minerals remains focused on advancing the Wallbrook Gold Project and identifying additional mineral resources that could support future development. The company’s approach combines a thorough understanding of regional geology with targeted drilling efforts, aimed at both expanding existing mineralisation and uncovering new prospects in this highly prospective region of Western Australia.
