Nine out of the 11 sectors ended lower, with materials and industrials experiencing slight declines of 0.27% and 0.21%, respectively. Amidst the market's overall decline, Gold Road Resources (ASX:GOR) and Champion Iron (ASX:CIA) managed to post gains of 3.27% and 3%, respectively.

Mineral Resources Faces Leadership Changes Amid Controversy

Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) held its annual general meeting, where outgoing Managing Director and founder, Chris Ellison, addressed shareholders for the first time since allegations of tax misconduct emerged. Ellison took responsibility for past errors in personal tax reporting, acknowledging the impact of these actions on the company and its stakeholders. As a result of the allegations, the company lost over $2 billion in market value. Ellison announced that he would step down as Managing Director, incurring significant financial penalties. The company also plans to appoint a new Managing Director within the next 12 to 18 months, with Non-executive Chairman James McClements also preparing to step down once a suitable replacement is identified.
