Gold miner Beacon Minerals Ltd (ASX:BCN) has reached a significant milestone with its MacPhersons project in Western Australia, initiating mining and processing activities from a new open pit. This advancement follows extensive on-site development.
On August 16, Beacon began extracting and milling ore from the MacPhersons Reward open pit. This new ore is now being processed alongside material from other parts of the project.
The MacPhersons Reward deposit boasts a mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 282,000 tonnes at 1.32 grams per tonne of gold, equating to 12,000 ounces.
Beacon anticipates a production increase of 6,500 ounces in the December quarter of 2024, following a period of reduced output due to excessive rainfall and the processing of viscous clay ores from Panel 3/Geko low-grade stockpiles. This lower-grade ore will now be blended with the fresh, hard ore from the MacPhersons Reward open pit.
Milling operations are conducted at the Jaudi plant, located 45 kilometers from the MacPhersons project, which is situated 5 kilometers south of Coolgardie. The Jaudi plant includes both a ROM pad and a mill.
During the stockpile establishment phase, Beacon has also commissioned a new mobile cone crusher. The initial milling will process a blend of transitional and fresh ore, transitioning to entirely fresh ore by September/October 2024.
