Highlights
- Maximus Resources reports 92.4% gold recovery from Eagles Nest Deposit.
- Tests confirm suitability for conventional processing.
- Follow-up drilling and studies planned for resource growth.
Maximus Resources (ASX:MXR) has reported impressive metallurgical test results from its Eagles Nest Gold Deposit in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields region. The preliminary tests yielded gold recovery rates ranging between 89.5% and 92.4%, confirming the deposit's suitability for conventional gold processing methods.
The Eagles Nest Gold Deposit, located approximately seven kilometers south of Maximus' Wattle Dam Gold Project, underwent comprehensive metallurgical testing. The program assessed representative samples across oxide, transitional, and fresh mineralized zones to evaluate recovery rates across expected mining widths. Results highlighted gold recovery of 90.5% in the oxide zone, 90.9% in transitional mineralization, and 91.8% in primary mineralization.
A Resource Ready for Development
The metallurgical findings confirm that the Eagles Nest resource, estimated at 42,500 ounces with an average grade of 2.0 g/t gold, is free-milling and non-refractory. This ensures compatibility with the established gold processing techniques prevalent in the Eastern Goldfields region.
Maximus managing director Tim Wither remarked that early metallurgical evaluations are crucial for understanding the potential of mineral resources. The robust recovery rates, coupled with near-surface mineralization, strengthen the economic prospects of Eagles Nest for future development. Additionally, the deposit remains open along strike, presenting significant exploration opportunities with over three kilometers of untested strike.
Future Exploration and Development Plans
To capitalize on these positive results, Maximus has planned a follow-up drilling campaign at Eagles Nest, set to begin next month. This program will focus on delineating shallow mineralization within an optimized pit shell, enhancing mineral classification confidence for an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE).
Further metallurgical studies will also assess gravity recovery potential, optimal grind size, and reagent consumption to refine gold recovery methods. These development efforts are aimed at de-risking the project and preparing for a mining proposal submission scheduled for next year.
With promising results and proactive development strategies, Maximus Resources (ASX:MXR) continues to advance the Eagles Nest Gold Deposit as a viable addition to its growing portfolio in the resource-rich Eastern Goldfields region.
