Magnetite Mines Ltd (ASX:MGT) recently expressed gratitude to former chairman Jim McKerlie for his substantial contributions to the company, following his decision to step down from the board at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). McKerlie, who has been an instrumental figure in guiding the company’s strategic direction, has opted to resign as a non-executive director due to personal obligations and other business interests.
McKerlie joined the Magnetite Mines board in January 2022 as a non-executive director. With his vast experience and deep commitment to the company's vision, he quickly became a prominent influence on the board. In September 2023, McKerlie took on the additional role of chairman, a position he held for a year before transitioning back to his original role of non-executive director. His leadership was marked by a focus on strengthening the company’s direction and operational strategy, particularly in advancing the company’s ambitious Razorback Iron Project in South Australia.
Paul White, the current chair of Magnetite Mines, conveyed the board’s appreciation for McKerlie’s invaluable service. White acknowledged McKerlie’s dedication to the company, noting, “Jim has always displayed high levels of commitment, dedication, and commercial acumen.” White also emphasized the positive impact McKerlie’s leadership has had, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
Reflecting on his time with Magnetite Mines, McKerlie expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help steer the company’s transformation efforts. He noted, “It has been a privilege to serve as both a non-executive director and chair and be involved in the transformation of the company.” He also highlighted his pride in the Razorback Iron Project, which he believes will contribute significantly to South Australia’s local economy and the broader goals of national economic growth and global decarbonization.
McKerlie’s support for Magnetite Mines is set to continue even after his departure. His commitment to the company’s success and the development of the Razorback Project underscores his belief in its potential to make a lasting impact on both regional development and sustainability goals. As the company moves forward, it will continue to build on the foundation McKerlie helped establish during his tenure.
Magnetite Mines looks ahead with a renewed commitment to its goals, honoring McKerlie’s legacy of vision and leadership that has left a lasting mark on its operations and direction.
