  • Ground reconnaissance identifies pegmatites at Canabrava Project.
  • Further exploration and soil sampling to refine drilling targets.

Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) has reported promising initial assay results from soil sampling at its Canabrava Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The results revealed lithium concentrations reaching up to 113ppm in a key target area on the western side of the project, strengthening Lightning Minerals' confidence in the region’s potential for lithium exploration within the ASX mining sector.

During the company’s ground reconnaissance efforts, multiple pegmatites and pegmatite float materials were identified, further supporting the positive outlook for the Canabrava Project. These findings are a strong indication that the area could be rich in lithium, which is a critical mineral for the rapidly growing electric vehicle and battery storage markets.

Exploration Activities and Next Steps

Lightning Minerals continues its work at the Canabrava Project with a combination of soil sampling, ground reconnaissance, and geophysics interpretation. The company plans to carry out additional infill soil sampling to reduce the spacing between samples, which will help refine its drilling targets. These efforts are part of a broader exploration strategy that also includes work at other nearby projects, such as Caraíbas and Esperança, where further assay results are expected in the coming weeks.

As the company moves forward with these projects, its focus remains on enhancing its understanding of the region’s lithium potential and developing a targeted drilling campaign based on the findings from the ongoing exploration.

Optimism Around the Canabrava Project

Managing director Alex Biggs expressed optimism regarding the early results from Canabrava, emphasizing the potential of the Minas Gerais region for lithium exploration. He highlighted the cost-effectiveness and prospectivity of the area, which makes it an attractive focus for the company’s efforts.

The project was recently renamed from Sidrônio to Canabrava to reflect local sensitivities, demonstrating the company’s commitment to engaging with the community as it advances its exploration initiatives.

Lightning Minerals is progressing with its exploration activities at the Canabrava Project, with promising lithium assay results and a clear plan for further development. The company’s ongoing efforts in Minas Gerais show a strong commitment to uncovering the region’s lithium potential, positioning it well in the growing demand for critical minerals.
