- Legacy Minerals confirms a large-scale mineral system at Fontenoy.
- Significant assay results include palladium, platinum, and gold mineralisation.
- Exploration footprint now spans over two square kilometres.
Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM) has unveiled encouraging assay results from its latest drilling campaign at the Fontenoy project in New South Wales, highlighting continued growth in palladium and platinum mineralisation. The company’s findings suggest the potential for this mineralisation to extend across several kilometres, providing an exciting development for the Fontenoy project.
The second phase of drilling at Fontenoy has confirmed the presence of a significant mineralised system. Notably, drill hole EFO10D delivered exceptional results, including 360 metres at 0.12 grams per tonne (g/t) of combined palladium, platinum, and gold (3PGE) starting from the surface. Within this broader zone, notable intercepts include:
- 200 metres at 0.15g/t 3PGE from the surface,
- 14 metres at 0.35g/t 3PGE from 72 metres,
- 22 metres at 0.29g/t 3PGE from 116 metres, and
- 28 metres at 0.16g/t 3PGE from 142 metres.
Adding further significance, these assays were obtained from a location approximately one kilometre from a previous drill hole that returned 120 metres at 0.30g/t 3PGE (from 298 metres depth), including a high-grade intercept of 10 metres at 1.2g/t 3PGE from 388 metres.
The company reports that the recent results have expanded the mineralised footprint to approximately two square kilometres. This broader footprint suggests considerable exploration potential within the area, particularly with geochemical and geophysical data indicating the likelihood of discovering additional high-grade zones.
Christopher Byrne, CEO and Managing Director of Legacy Minerals, highlighted the importance of these results in advancing the project. According to Byrne, the consistent exploration outcomes continue to build confidence in the continuity, scale, and scope of the mineral system at Fontenoy.
He also noted that the results align with Legacy Minerals’ ongoing efforts to understand and develop the palladium, platinum, gold, and copper potential at the project. Byrne emphasized that the newly expanded footprint and related geophysical indicators could lead to the discovery of even higher-grade mineralisation zones.
The progress at Fontenoy strengthens Legacy Minerals' position as an emerging player in the exploration of critical minerals. With its robust mineralised system and ongoing exploration success, the Fontenoy project is shaping up to be a key asset in the company’s portfolio.
