  • Lanthanein Resources (LNR) launches soil sampling at Lyons Project
  • Program targets gold, base metals, and rare earth element zones
  • Advanced testing methods to enhance exploration accuracy

Lanthanein Resources (ASX:LNR) has announced the start of a focused soil geochemical sampling program at the Hart Bore area within its Lyons Project in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region. This initiative follows an in-depth review of past exploration data and aims to further refine targets for gold, base metals, and rare earth elements.

The Lyons Project (E09/2515) and Edmund Project (E09/2516) have long been on the exploration radar, with historical activity dating back decades. Work conducted in the 1980s and 1990s by prominent operators uncovered significant geochemical, magnetic, and radiometric anomalies. These were complemented by early drilling efforts, revealing notable mineralised zones.

Targeting Key Mineralised Zones

The upcoming program is designed to revisit these historically prospective areas with modern techniques. Sampling will cover a grid designed to capture detailed surface data across priority zones of gold and base metals anomalism. The collected samples will undergo analysis using the UltraFine+ method, which examines the finest fraction of soil material to detect subtle geochemical signals even under surface cover.

This method, now widely adopted across the exploration sector, improves the ability to distinguish mineral concentrations from background levels, making it a valuable tool for refining drill targets.

Part of a Broader Strategy

This soil geochemical program forms part of Lanthanein’s broader exploration plans in the Gascoyne region. By leveraging advanced testing techniques and historical datasets, the company aims to progress toward more precise drilling campaigns in future stages.

While Lanthanein is not part of the ASX 200, its activities contribute to the broader resource sector momentum in Western Australia, an area renowned for its mineral wealth. The strategic approach blends historic knowledge with modern exploration innovation, positioning the Lyons Project as a focus point for upcoming fieldwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a soil geochemical sampling program?
A soil geochemical sampling program involves collecting and analysing soil samples to detect trace elements, helping identify potential mineral deposits beneath the surface.
  • Why revisit areas explored decades ago?
Historic exploration data can provide valuable insights, and with improved technology, areas once considered marginal can yield new targets for mineralisation.
  • What is the UltraFine+ method used by Lanthanein?
The UltraFine+ method analyses the very fine fraction of soil to detect subtle chemical signatures, enhancing the ability to identify buried mineral deposits.
