Highlights

  • Significant lithium and caesium grades confirmed in Phase I drilling.
  • Phase II exploration to expand on deeper pegmatite zones.
  • Advanced technologies to enhance resource estimation.

IRIS Metals (ASX:IR1) has reported promising results from its Phase I diamond drilling campaign at the Tin Mountain Project in South Dakota, USA. The company has intercepted high-grade lithium and caesium, reinforcing the project's potential for strategic minerals critical to the global energy transition.

Among the standout results, drilling hole TDD-24-008 intersected 5.2 meters at 2.05% Li₂O from 39.2 meters, while hole TDD-24-007 revealed 1.0 meter at 1.54% Cs₂O from 31.2 meters. These results highlight the project's multi-element potential, with both lithium and caesium emerging as key minerals.

Expanding the Scope: Phase II Drilling Plans

Building on these positive results, IRIS Metals (IR1) is preparing for the next phase of exploration. Phase II will focus on deeper drilling to trace the pegmatite extension further beneath the surface. The company aims to use advanced horizontal drilling technology and mineralogical mapping studies to refine its understanding of the deposit.

The exploration team has confirmed that the pegmatite body extends at depth and remains open, indicating further potential for high-grade mineralization. The findings will contribute to a maiden mineral resource estimate, setting the stage for future development.

Leveraging Technology and Historic Insights

The Tin Mountain Project benefits from extensive surface exposure and a rich history of mining operations, providing valuable geological data. IRIS Metals (IR1) is combining traditional exploration methods with modern technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy in resource evaluation.

The company is particularly focused on targeting the central pegmatite zone, an area previously challenging to access with conventional surface drilling. With the integration of 2025 advanced technologies, IRIS Metals (IR1) is set to accelerate exploration efforts while deepening its understanding of the project's geological profile.

Strengthening Strategic Mineral Supply

Lithium remains a cornerstone of the battery supply chain, while caesium is a rare and strategically valuable element used in advanced applications. The latest findings position IRIS Metals (IR1) as a key player in securing future supply for these critical minerals.

As the company moves forward with Phase II drilling, further updates are anticipated, providing insights into the evolving potential of the Tin Mountain Project.
