Green Critical Minerals (ASX:GCM) has set a new benchmark in graphite production, with its maiden VHD Technology pilot plant test in New South Wales surpassing key industry standards. The breakthrough results mark a significant achievement for the company as it moves forward with its innovative approach to high-performance graphite manufacturing.
The first operational run of the pilot plant successfully produced 12 test samples, delivering exceptional outcomes. Density testing revealed an average density of 1,959 kg/m³ and a peak density of 1,979 kg/m³. These values outperformed established industry benchmarks for nuclear-grade graphite (1,700–1,900 kg/m³) and electrode-grade graphite (1,550–1,800 kg/m³) on the initial pass.
Managing director Clinton Booth noted the significance of this milestone as part of the plant's wet commissioning phase, highlighting how these results validate the technological superiority of the company’s VHD graphite production process.
“Achieving such remarkable density properties on the first commissioning run, even before optimization, showcases the exceptional quality of our VHD technology. These results solidify our position as a global leader in producing advanced graphite with outstanding environmental and economic advantages,” Booth explained.
The company also emphasized the broader implications of its advancements, particularly in addressing growing demand across multiple industries. Applications range from advanced electronics and renewable energy to industrial processes, all of which can benefit from the superior performance of VHD graphite blocks.
Looking ahead, Green Critical Minerals plans to conduct further testing on these initial samples. External laboratories will evaluate thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity properties, adding deeper insights into the material’s suitability for advanced uses.
