- Mulga Bill shows potential for continued expansion in the Side Well Gold Project.
Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has reported promising drilling results from the Mulga Bill deposit, part of its Side Well Gold Project in Western Australia. New resource growth drilling in the area has intersected significant gold mineralization outside the currently defined boundaries, suggesting that the Mulga Bill deposit holds further resource expansion potential.
Drilling has revealed that the mineralized area extends westward, indicating an extension of the Malvern Lodes, a set of gold-bearing structures within the project’s Central Zone. Key drilling highlights include 4 meters at 6.46 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from a depth of 88 meters and 19 meters at 1.25 g/t gold from 232 meters. Within this zone, high-grade segments have also been identified, such as 5 meters at 2.28 g/t gold and 4 meters at 2.75 g/t gold between 240 and 247 meters.
The recent drilling program, which involved nine reverse circulation (RC) holes, was focused on testing the sub-vertical Malvern Lodes along the western boundary of Mulga Bill and deeper areas below the current resource. The drilling identified new gold zones that align with previous findings in the southern section of Mulga Bill, expanding the known reach of these gold-bearing lodes.
According to Great Boulder Resources’ managing director Andrew Paterson, these new intersections confirm the presence of additional gold-bearing structures. The newly discovered lodes are expected to enhance the resource estimate with relatively shallow, tabular lode-style formations. This expansion increases the strike length of the lodes by approximately 350 meters, showcasing the ongoing potential of the Mulga Bill deposit.
The recent results have also positively impacted the grade in the supergene zone, where gold enrichment occurs at relatively shallow depths. Additionally, the known Malvern Lodes have been extended at depth, particularly in the "link zone" between the Central and High-Grade Vein areas of Mulga Bill. Key intersections from this drilling campaign include 3 meters at 3.07 g/t gold from a depth of 76 meters and 6 meters at 2.17 g/t gold from 80 meters, with a higher-grade interval of 2 meters at 4.06 g/t gold.
Further resource definition drilling has also been completed at the nearby Saltbush prospect, with the RC rig scheduled to resume drilling at Mulga Bill North. The company is also awaiting results from an aircore drilling campaign at the Side Well South prospect, anticipated within the next few weeks, which could reveal additional areas of gold potential in this high-priority region.
