Highlights
- Flynn Gold begins diamond drilling at Grenadier to explore deeper high-grade mineralisation.
- Trenching reveals consistent gold-bearing quartz-sulphide veins.
- Exploration at Trafalgar aims to boost geological confidence for future estimates.
Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1) has launched a maiden diamond drilling campaign at its promising Grenadier greenfields discovery, part of the Golden Ridge project in north-east Tasmania. The campaign aims to investigate the continuity of high-grade mineralisation identified through recent trenching, further unlocking the potential of this largely underexplored gold system.
The initial phase of drilling includes five diamond holes totalling approximately 600 metres. These will target the down-dip extensions of quartz-sulphide veins identified through surface trenching. Key trench results include 1.3 metres at 6.6 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold, with standout intercepts such as 0.4 metres at 17.7g/t and 2.3 metres at 4.2g/t including 0.4 metres at 11g/t. The mineralised quartz-sulphide veins, trending northeast, have been exposed across at least 300 metres of strike length and vary in thickness from 350mm to 600mm.
Focus on Down-Dip Potential
The first drill hole is targeting the down-dip continuation of mineralisation below Trench 9, extending to a depth of 110 metres. Cyanide leach assays of bulk samples from this zone have delivered an impressive average gold grade of 10.5g/t with 95% recovery, underscoring the zone's strong economic potential.
The broader drill program also aims to assess multiple new targets, guided by a trenching initiative over a 1 square kilometre gold-in-soil anomaly situated along the southwestern edge of the Golden Ridge Granodiorite. Although only a fraction of this anomaly has been tested, initial trenching has already confirmed significant high-grade quartz-sulphide mineralisation.
Expanding Exploration Horizons
To build on this momentum, a new 200-metre trench is being excavated southeast of Trenches 9 and 10. This effort is focused on an area showing both elevated gold-in-soil readings and high-grade float samples gathered during field surveys. The new trench is expected to reveal further quartz sulphide structures running parallel to those under current drilling evaluation.
Progress at Trafalgar Prospect
In parallel, Flynn Gold is advancing its infill and extensional drilling campaign at the nearby Trafalgar prospect within the same Golden Ridge project. Four drill holes totalling 879 metres have been completed so far. These are focused on expanding high-grade intercepts previously reported, such as 2.7 metres at 4.1g/t gold (including 0.35 metres at 26.6g/t), and 3.05 metres at 4.9g/t gold (including 0.35 metres at 40g/t).
The ongoing drilling at Trafalgar is intended to increase geological confidence and contribute to future mineral resource estimates, reinforcing Flynn Gold’s strategic vision for the Golden Ridge project area.
