Highlights

  • Andean Silver (ASL) launches a significant exploration initiative at Cerro Bayo.
  • Advanced geophysical techniques aim to refine and expand high-potential zones.
  • New mineral systems review enhances understanding of the project's prospectivity.

Andean Silver (ASX:ASL) has commenced its largest regional exploration program at the Cerro Bayo silver-gold project in Chile. Spanning 300 square kilometers, the campaign incorporates cutting-edge geophysical methods and aims to unlock untapped potential in the region. This is the first significant exploration at Cerro Bayo in over 15 years to leverage modern technologies, marking a milestone for the project.

Geophysical Survey Underway

The geophysical survey will focus on structural corridors across the Cerro Bayo district, extending to the epithermal system at Sinter Hill. Target areas include the Raul and Marcela deposits, where depth extensions of known resources will be examined. High-priority zones such as Droughtmaster and Mallines will undergo refined analysis to better understand structural controls.

These advanced techniques aim to identify resistive structures up to 300 meters below the surface. The integration of survey results with mapping and surface geochemistry could significantly expand the project's resource base.

Progressive Evaluation of New Targets

Andean Silver’s chief executive, Tim Laneyrie, emphasized the importance of this exploration program, describing it as a pivotal step in identifying large-scale prospects outside of established mine complexes. He highlighted the company's focus on assessing unexplored areas previously covered and integrating these findings into a comprehensive geological model.

Re-sampling efforts in key lode areas and emerging corridors are expected to refine the company’s understanding of the region’s resource potential.

Enhanced Insights from Mineral Systems Review

Recent analysis of the Cerro Bayo and Laguna Verde mineral systems has provided new insights, revealing an additional intermediate-sulphidation mineralisation event. This discovery could significantly enhance the grade and scale of existing targets.

Preliminary studies have identified a promising northeast-to-southwest trending corridor with high-grade polymetallic intercepts, which remained unexplored historically due to the project's primary focus on silver-gold mineralisation. Secondary polymetallic mineralisation has also been highlighted, offering an opportunity to boost the prospectivity of existing ore domains.

This comprehensive exploration program by Andean Silver marks a major advancement for the Cerro Bayo project. With advanced geophysical tools and a deeper understanding of the region's mineral systems, the company is set to uncover significant opportunities within this historically rich area.
