The share price of Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX: EVN) is turning heads this Wednesday. the gold miner's shares have surged by nearly 7.49% to close at AU$4.16 apiece.

Investors are flocking to purchase the company's shares today following the release of its quarterly update.

According to the update, Evolution Mining has reported a noteworthy 15% increase in gold production during the third quarter, reaching 185,252 ounces of gold.

Furthermore, investors are particularly pleased with the news that this heightened production was achieved with a 9.6% reduction in the all-in sustaining cost (AISC) to AU$1,464 per ounce (US$963 per ounce).

Given the upward trajectory of the gold price during the quarter, it was indeed an opportune moment for Evolution Mining to deliver increased production and lower costs.

For instance, the company's average realized price for the three months stood at AU$3,171, resulting in an all-in cost margin of AU$947 per ounce. This represents a significant 40% increase quarter on quarter.

These factors contribute to the upward momentum of the Evolution Mining share price today.

Factors Driving the Strong Quarterly Performance

Management has attributed the robust quarter to all operations performing significantly according to plan. This includes the successful implementation of planned major shutdowns at Cowal and Ernest Henry.

Additionally, it is highlighted that the Cowal underground mine achieved commercial production at the end of the quarter. Impressively, it attained a 1.5 million tonne annualized mining rate in March, which bodes well for the current quarter.

Lawrie Conway, the managing director and chief executive officer of the gold miner, expressed satisfaction with the quarter's performance. He stated:

Unchanged Guidance

Evolution Mining has maintained its FY 2024 guidance without any revisions. It expects gold production to hover around 749,000 ounces with an AISC of approximately AU$1,410 per ounce. Copper production is anticipated to reach 65,000 tonnes.

With this latest surge, the Evolution Mining share price has climbed by 26% since this time last month.
