Highlights
- Two high-grade manganese discoveries reported by in Timor-Leste.
- Grades as high as 57.5% and 63.4% manganese identified in findings.
- Advanced exploration model predicts promising potential for further discoveries.
Estrella Resources (ASX:ESR) has achieved notable success in its exploration efforts in Timor-Leste, with the discovery of two significant supergene manganese deposits. These discoveries feature manganese grades of up to 57.5% and 63.4%, marking them as some of the highest recorded in the region.
The newly identified prospects include the Ira Miri site and additional in-situ manganese deposits located near the previously recognized Sica prospects. These results stem from Estrella’s innovative exploration model, which integrates stratigraphic analysis with varying forms of mineralization observed across its tenure in Timor-Leste.
High-Grade Findings at Ira Miri
The Ira Miri discovery, made during reconnaissance mapping, revealed a three-meter-high outcrop of supergene manganese. Field samples analyzed with portable XRF technology confirmed exceptionally high manganese grades. Estrella’s interpretation suggests this deposit mirrors the Noni formation in an unmapped area, underlining its potential for further expansion.
Strategically located, Ira Miri lies only 4.5 kilometers from other manganese-rich zones, such as the Sica prospects. This proximity enhances the possibility of identifying a cohesive high-grade manganese deposit in the region.
Sica Prospects Yield Further Discoveries
Using its refined exploration model, Estrella pinpointed another supergene manganese occurrence in the hills surrounding the Sica prospects. This achievement highlights the effectiveness of the company’s predictive approach, which has become a valuable tool in locating additional mineralization zones.
Plans for Continued Exploration
Estrella Resources is gearing up for the next phase of exploration, which will include geophysical surveys targeting in-situ manganese deposits buried beneath scree material. The planned introduction of Induced Polarisation surveys is expected to enhance the company’s ability to map and identify further resources.
Future Outlook
Estrella Resources’ Managing Director, Chris Daws, expressed confidence in the potential of Timor-Leste as a mining destination. He praised the company’s exploration team for its innovative work in developing a robust model that has significantly contributed to recent successes.
Since the announcement, Estrella shares saw a rise, trading at 1.6 cents at 10:47 AEDT, reflecting a 6.66% increase. This development showcases investor interest in the company’s growing portfolio of high-grade manganese prospects.
Estrella’s exploration advancements position it as a key player in unlocking the mineral potential of Timor-Leste, a region with untapped opportunities in the resource sector.
