Highlights
- Dynamic Metals reveals high-grade gold results at Cognac West, Widgiemooltha Project.
- Rock chip sampling returns up to 2,040 g/t gold, signaling strong mineral potential.
- Infill soil sampling underway to refine drill targets for 2025 testing.
Dynamic Metals Ltd (ASX:DYM) recently announced encouraging gold rock chip results from its Cognac West prospect, part of the Widgiemooltha Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields. The findings highlight promising high-grade gold mineralization that could signify a robust exploration potential at the Goldrush tenement.
The latest sampling efforts at Cognac West produced significant high-grade results, including a peak sample of 2,040 g/t gold from sample DM1007 and 53.1 g/t gold in sample DM1010. These results build on initial soil sampling that previously indicated notable gold anomalies, further supporting the potential for this area.
Cognac West’s Historic and Recent Exploration Efforts
The Cognac West prospect has seen exploration dating back to the 1970s, with historic drill records showing a peak gold assay of 91.3 g/t over one meter at a depth of 41 meters. Dynamic Metals is now leading a structured, systematic exploration campaign in the area to obtain high-confidence data, adding to the groundwork laid by previous investigations.
In the first phase, the company completed a comprehensive soil sampling program across a three-kilometer by two-kilometer area, collecting samples at 50-meter intervals along east-west lines spaced 200 meters apart. This initiative uncovered three strong gold anomalies, with high-grade results recorded at 2.1 g/t, 0.49 g/t, and 0.22 g/t gold in soils. Additionally, two anomalous areas, named Anomaly A and Anomaly B, showed gold levels above 25 parts per billion (ppb).
Mapping and Rock Chip Sampling at Cognac West
Returning to the site in October 2024, Dynamic Metals expanded the soil sampling to the east and into previously undersampled regions, identifying a third high-grade gold anomaly. The company also conducted detailed geological mapping and rock chip sampling across the prospect, particularly around Anomaly A, where a northeast-trending quartz vein was found near anomalous soil gold results.
Field teams took eight rock chip samples along a 50-meter stretch of this quartz trend, yielding impressive assay results. Sampling across the Goldrush tenement delivered additional high-grade values, with rock chip samples recording 2,040 g/t gold, 53.1 g/t, 5.91 g/t in DM1006, 8.95 g/t in DM1008, and 3.27 g/t in DYM2424091006, further indicating Cognac West’s potential.
Dynamic Metals’ managing director, Karen Wellman, noted that these “bonanza” rock chip results reinforce the mineral potential at the Goldrush tenement. According to Wellman, the presence of multiple gold indicators, including large soil anomalies and encouraging rock chip samples, strengthens the case for significant mineralization, particularly as gold prices continue to climb.
Infill Soil Sampling and Target Definition
With strong initial data in hand, Dynamic Metals has now commenced infill soil sampling, moving to a 100-meter line spacing with samples every 25 meters. This more detailed sampling will provide data crucial for defining drill targets, with plans to begin the permitting process for drilling set to start in early 2025.
Dynamic Metals’ strategic, data-driven approach at Cognac West signals a focused commitment to realizing the gold potential within the Goldrush tenement. The ongoing work not only showcases promising gold mineralization but also aligns with the company’s broader exploration objectives for the Widgiemooltha Project, adding momentum to its exploration endeavors in Western Australia.
