Advancing Drilling at Etango North-East
Connected Minerals (ASX:CML) has moved into phase two of its exploration program at the Etango North-East Uranium Project in Namibia. The company is focused on delivering results from this round of drilling, which will build on earlier exploration that indicated significant mineralisation across the project area.
Uranium exploration continues to attract global attention, particularly with the rising demand for nuclear energy as part of the transition to clean energy. With global consumption trends expected to expand, companies exploring this sector are closely watched alongside ASX 200 companies that play a leading role in the market.
Focus on Ondapanda Prospect
The current phase of drilling is centred on the Ondapanda prospect, an area that previously showed encouraging results. The latest program is designed to further test the potential of mineralised zones and provide a clearer understanding of the project’s scale. The geological model indicates that Etango North-East could mirror similar characteristics to Bannerman Energy (ASX:BMN), which is advancing its neighbouring Etango Uranium Project.
The identification of multiple stacked alaskites is particularly significant. These structures, which dip at moderate angles, have the potential to be mined more efficiently compared to steeply dipping orebodies. This could allow for broader access to mineralisation and support open pit mining methods, which are generally considered more cost-effective.
Strategic Importance of Alaskite Mineralisation
The presence of stacked alaskites near the surface at Etango North-East enhances the project’s long-term value proposition. Open pit mining opportunities mean that ore could potentially be processed from day one, without the need for extensive pre-stripping. This strengthens the development outlook for the asset and adds to its attractiveness as a future uranium project.
With the global energy landscape increasingly relying on low-emission solutions, uranium projects like Etango North-East are positioned to support long-term supply requirements.
Diversified Exploration in Western Australia
Beyond its uranium focus in Namibia, Connected Minerals is also pursuing rare earth exploration in Western Australia. The Pallingup Project, located in the Great Southern Region, is being assessed for potential carbonatite-hosted rare earth elements and heavy mineral sands. This project adds diversification to the company’s portfolio, broadening its exposure to multiple critical minerals.
Connected Minerals’ dual focus on uranium in Namibia and rare earth opportunities in Australia underscores its ambition to play a role in supplying the minerals needed for global energy and technology markets.
