  • A pilot mine strategy aims to fast-track lithium production.
  • Phase 2 drilling set to begin, with completion by early 2025.

Chariot Corporation (ASX:CC9) has revealed its ambitious plans to accelerate the development of its Black Mountain Project in Wyoming by establishing a pilot mine. This approach is designed to streamline the path to production, leveraging Wyoming's unique permitting system that allows for the development of such pilot-scale operations, a strategy commonly utilized by ASX mining stocks.

A pilot mine is a step beyond the more common pilot plant concept, incorporating the necessary infrastructure to begin small-scale mining operations. Wyoming, known as the Cowboy State, offers a favorable regulatory environment that makes this strategy feasible. Chariot is optimistic that the region’s near-surface mineral deposits can support an open-pit mine, while local lithium hydroxide processing facilities could help facilitate a viable export model.

Focus on Spodumene Concentrate Production

The ultimate goal for Chariot Corporation is to accelerate the production of spodumene concentrate, a key component for lithium-ion batteries, which can then be supplied to global markets. This initiative is particularly important for markets seeking alternatives to China as a lithium source.

To support this vision, Chariot plans to identify a high-priority, small-scale lithium resource. Phase 2 drilling at the Black Mountain Project is scheduled to begin soon, with the aim of completing it by early 2025. Additionally, the company will send 200kg of core samples to a laboratory in Western Australia for metallurgical testing to further assess the project's potential.

Lithium Demand Continues to Rise Despite Price Fluctuations

While global lithium prices have seen some declines, Chariot Corporation remains confident about future demand, particularly in the United States, where growth is expected well into the 2030s. Lithium carbonate futures have shown resilience, with a 2% jump reported overnight on Thursday (Australian time), reflecting the ongoing interest in lithium as a critical resource for energy storage and electric vehicle production.

Chariot Corporation last traded at 14.5cps, as the company continues to progress its Black Mountain Project toward production.

Chariot Corporation is taking strategic steps to fast-track its lithium production capabilities in Wyoming, with a focus on establishing a pilot mine and accelerating spodumene concentrate output. As demand for lithium continues to rise, Chariot is positioning itself to meet market needs through innovative development strategies and targeted exploration.
