Highlights
- AuMEGA Metals reports significant till survey findings at the Intersection Project, Newfoundland.
- Results show gold, silver, and copper anomalies across multiple zones.
- Four large areas are now marked for future exploration.
AuMEGA Metals Ltd (ASX:AUE) recently released promising results from its initial reconnaissance till geochemical survey at the Intersection Project, situated near the company's Bunker Hill Project along Newfoundland’s Cape Ray Shear Zone (CRSZ). This initial survey, conducted over the summer of 2024, uncovered several areas with high potential for future exploration, indicating possible extensive mineralized systems.
The survey, designed to examine the subsurface geology of the Intersection Project, involved a grid layout with lines spaced 800 meters apart and sample stations at 100-meter intervals. The results revealed a range of significant mineral indicators, with high levels of gold, silver, copper, and additional pathfinder elements spread across multiple locations, providing further insight into potential mineral deposits in the area.
According to AuMEGA’s managing director and CEO, Sam Pazuki, the findings are a strong starting point. The initial survey, marking AuMEGA's first exploration work at Intersection, highlights four primary areas of interest for further investigation. Pazuki emphasized the project’s strategic location, where two of Newfoundland’s largest known gold structures intersect, amplifying the site’s potential.
The four newly identified target zones feature substantial gold anomalies, especially within the Windsor Point Group Sediments, known for hosting other notable deposits. The survey’s peak values include 173 ppb gold and 5.82 g/t silver, accompanied by high levels of bismuth and copper, ranking in the 99th percentile within the survey’s sampling area.
Strategically positioned near the Cape Ray-Valentine Lake shear, the Intersection Project is adjacent to AuMEGA’s Bunker Hill Project and in proximity to other major industry projects. Pazuki noted that till samples collected from Intersection revealed soil sample values comparable to historical data from the nearby Valentine Project, further validating the area’s mineral potential.
In the coming months, AuMEGA will incorporate this new data into its exploration framework, aiming to refine the target zones and design follow-up programs. The planned next steps include increasing till sampling resolution, structural mapping, and conducting reconnaissance diamond and reverse-circulation drilling to better understand the mineralization patterns. The company also plans to reprocess historical geophysical data to add further depth to its analysis.
Intersection's significance also lies in its neighboring location to recently staked grounds by Calibre Mining and Eldorado Gold’s joint venture, positioning AuMEGA in a region marked by increased exploration interest. With assay results from a five-hole diamond drilling program at the nearby Bunker Hill expected in November 2024, AuMEGA is focused on expanding its understanding of the CRSZ area.
