Highlights
- Exploration begins at Myoff Creek project in British Columbia
- Initial survey aims to uncover rare earths and niobium zones
- Strategic site positioned in a geologically rich mineral
AuKing (ASX:AKN) has commenced a focused exploration program at its wholly-owned Myoff Creek rare earths and niobium project in British Columbia, Canada. While not part of the ASX 200, the company’s proactive steps mark a significant development for resource investors monitoring international exploration activity.
The Myoff Creek project lies within the South-Central mining region of British Columbia, surrounded by known mineral-rich belts. This area is home to some of the country's most productive operations, highlighting the strategic value of AuKing’s tenement. The exploration initiative involves a helicopter-borne aeromagnetic and radiometric survey across a planned 70-line kilometre stretch. This survey is designed to outline potential mineralisation zones and guide the identification of future drilling targets.
Historically, the site has already revealed encouraging indicators, including near-surface carbonatite mineralisation. The extent of this zone remains open at depth and along strike, suggesting ample room for discovery. Notably, previous rock chip sampling in the vicinity has detected strong signals of niobium and cerium, enhancing confidence in the mineral potential of the broader area.
Geologically, the Myoff Creek property is located within the Shuswap Metamorphic Complex—part of the Columbian Orogen—an area recognised for rare earth elements and other critical minerals. The carbonatite formations present here are ultramafic and nephelinitic, characteristics often associated with high-grade mineralisation and minimal impurities. These attributes, combined with its proximity to supportive mining infrastructure, strengthen Myoff Creek’s profile as a promising exploration asset.
The upcoming survey is expected to proceed in the near term, pending weather conditions. Once complete, the data will offer deeper insights into the structure and scale of the mineralised zones. The findings will influence subsequent stages, including possible drilling operations designed to validate and expand current knowledge of the site’s potential.
With growing global interest in critical minerals like niobium and rare earth elements, AuKing’s initiative in a favourable geological setting could contribute meaningfully to future resource development. The Myoff Creek project stands as a compelling venture, combining strategic location, strong geological indicators, and a clear exploration roadmap.
