Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN) has expanded its board by appointing Miguel J Galindo, a highly experienced chemical engineer and consultant, as a non-executive director. Galindo, a specialist in ceramic technology with more than 25 years in industrial minerals, brings an in-depth understanding of the sector, which is set to complement the existing leadership. His role is expected to reinforce Andromeda’s position in the high-end ceramics market while supporting the company’s customer and market relations in Europe.
Galindo has been working closely with Andromeda since April 2023, focusing on offering strategic consultancy services, such as delivering insights into market trends, exploring potential applications for the company’s products, and establishing key customer and market connections. Among his notable contributions, he has actively promoted Andromeda’s Great White kaolin products. These products are recognized for their high brightness, color quality, and advantageous aluminium-to-iron ratio – qualities that make them particularly suited for high-end ceramic tile and porcelain tableware manufacturing. To verify the quality, Galindo organized independent testing with the ITC and Iberoclays, which confirmed these premium features.
In his new board position, Galindo will continue overseeing Andromeda’s European market relations. This includes his ongoing efforts to strengthen customer engagement and oversee product quality assessments, ensuring Andromeda’s products meet the high standards expected by European clientele. His contributions to Andromeda’s European expansion are already significant; he was instrumental in establishing a strategic partnership with IberoClays, resulting in a binding offtake agreement, which has laid the groundwork for the company’s growth in this market.
Sue-Ann Higgins, Andromeda’s executive chair, expressed confidence in Galindo’s appointment, noting that his deep experience across industrial minerals, high-end ceramics, and sales and marketing brings valuable expertise to the board. Higgins emphasized that his skills align well with those of the existing directors, promising a cohesive and knowledgeable leadership team.
With a robust background, Galindo has held senior roles in various sectors, including his tenure at Rio Tinto, where he specialized in operations, sales, marketing, and general management of industrial minerals. He also founded Galesk Consultancy S.L.U., where he served as CEO, further highlighting his entrepreneurial and management skills.
Apart from his association with Andromeda, Galindo holds prominent positions in related industries. He is the president of the Spanish Glass & Ceramics Society (SECV) and a non-executive director at Port-Sur, the largest operator at Spain’s Port of Castellon. His expertise is also recognized internationally as a member of the Technical Committee at Qualicer, a prestigious congress on ceramic tile quality.
Pending formalities, Galindo’s appointment is expected to be officially confirmed following Andromeda’s upcoming annual general meeting, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and expansion in the ceramics and industrial minerals market.
