Iggy Tan -- a lithium industry expert who is leading Lithium Universe Limited as its Chairman -- has now announced the induction of highly skilled lithium sector professionals into the company. Mr. Tan has referred to this group as the "Lithium Dream Team", which has a striking resemblance to the USA 1992 Dream Team.
Iggy's new team includes lithium veteran Mr. Patrick Scallan, the man who successfully managed Greenbushes Mine for more than 25 years. Notably, Greenbushes is the world's largest lithium hard rock mine and has the highest-grade orebody across the globe. Dr. Jingyuan Liu, Terry Stark, Roger Pover, and Huy Nguyen are the other members of the Lithium Dream Team.
Dr. Jingyuan Liu -- regarded as a leading international expert in Li downstream processing -- served Galaxy Resources in the capacity of General Manager (Technology). He played a pivotal role in the development of the Jiangsu Lithium Carbonate Project. Notably, Dr. Liu was enlisted by Tianqi Lithium Corp to overcome commissioning challenges at the Kwinana Lithium Hydroxide Plant (WA).
Mr. Terry Stark oversaw the Mt Cattlin and James Bay operations at Galaxy Resources, where he forged strong relationships with the Cree First Nation people for the James Bay Project. Mr. Roger Pover has previously worked at the Greenbushes mine. He has also served as the Plant Manager for the Mt Cattlin Operation. Mr. Huy Nguyen is associated with Mintrex, which constructed the Mt Cattlin Project for Galaxy Resources.
Mr. Iggy Tan has emphasised the potential of the Apollo Lithium Project (James Bay). On his part, he seeks to prioritise the speedy development of commercially successful lithium projects, instead of focusing on Li exploration alone. Mr. Tan asserts that Lithium Universe Limited now has a "rich pedigree" of Li sector experience, which would support the speedy establishment of a spodumene-producing mine in Québec, Canada.
Mr. Tan also states that while the lithium industry usually faces many challenges because of prolonged project development timelines (with process taking up to eight years), the Lithium Dream Team comes with a proven track record in that it took the Mt Cattlin Project from its first maiden resource through funding and construction to first product delivery in record-setting three years.
Mr. Tan -- who chairs Lithium Universe Limited (ASX:LU7) while also being the Managing Director of ASX-listed Altech Batteries Limited (ASX:ATC) -- is hopeful that his Lithium Dream Team would be able to recreate the Mt Cattlin Project success at the Apollo Lithium Project.
