BKI reports 175% NPAT gain in FY2022, shares rise on ASX

Australian finance firm BKI Investment Company Limited (ASX:BKI) shared the company’s operational and financial performance results for the full year ended on 30 June 2022 (FY22) on the ASX today. 

The company is said to have delivered ‘record’ profit results, with a gain of 175% in Net Profit After Tax and special dividends in the given period. 

Followed by this update on the ASX, BKI shares were spotted trading 2.15% higher at AU$1.665 per share at 11:25 AM AEST.

Details of BKI’s financial and operational performance in FY22: 

The board of BKI has informed that there were various stimulating factors that largely impacted the Australian economy in the past few years. These factors have been a great support for households, consumers and businesses in Australia. 

As a result, BKI experienced strong economic conditions throughout FY22, which has helped the business to flourish. The company was able to improve its profit earnings and subsequently pay higher dividends. Furthermore, BKI believes that the increase in dividends from Australian equities has highly impacted its results in FY22. 

BKI reported its Ordinary Revenue from Investment Portfolio to gain by 58% from the previous corresponding period to AU$62.6 million in FY22. According to the finance firm, its financials got a boost in FY22 by higher ordinary dividends received from major holdings. These holdings include BHP Group, New Hope Corporation, Rio Tinto, Woodside Energy, National Australia Bank, Macquarie Group and Commonwealth Bank.

In FY22, BKI reported earning AU$58.1 million as an Operating result after tax, up by 63% from its previous corresponding period. 

The company’s earnings per share (EPS) was also lifted by 62% to 7.84 Australian cents in FY22, compared to the previous corresponding period.

The board of BKI has determined to pay a fully franked ordinary dividend worth 3.65 Australian cents per share to its eligible shareholders. In addition to that, the company will also be distributing a fully franked special dividend of 1 Australian cent per share to its eligible shareholders. 

In FY22, the company paid a total of 8.65 Australian cents per share as dividend to its shareholders, up by 73% from FY21. 

BKI’s share price performance on the ASX: 

BKI shares have performed well on the ASX in the past one year despite several challenges of COVID-19, followed by a volatile market. The company’s share price gained 2.47% in a year. However, on YTD-basis, BKI’s share price fell by 1.19% (as of 11:29 AM AEST on the ASX today, 20 July).
