For years, industries across agriculture, consumer goods and industrial cleaning have relied heavily on chemical-based products to solve everyday problems. However, as sustainability, health awareness and environmental responsibility become increasingly important, the search for natural and plant-based alternatives is gaining traction across multiple end markets.

Into this shift steps Skin Elements (ASX:SKN), which has positioned itself as a natural biotechnology company focused on developing plant-based formulations across skincare, agriculture, disinfectants and cosmetics. The company has spent more than 20 years developing its proprietary SE Formula™ biotechnology platform, which supports its diversified product portfolio.

Its product suite includes Soléo Organics natural and organic sunscreen, PapayaActivs natural therapeutics skincare products, SuprCuvr disinfectants and cleaners, ECO-Nurture horticultural plant infection control technology, and the Elizabeth Jane Natural Cosmetics range.

What began as an ambitious research-driven vision has evolved into a diversified portfolio of commercial-ready technologies spanning skincare, disinfectants, horticulture and natural cosmetics. With more than AUD 50 million invested into research and development, Skin Elements is now entering a phase where commercialisation may become the central focus of its growth strategy.

ECO-Nurture Moves Toward Commercial Rollout

One of the company’s key near-term opportunities lies within its ECO-Nurture horticultural plant infection control technology. The product has undergone extensive testing and evaluation across kiwifruit orchards in New Zealand during the 2023, 2024 and 2025 growing seasons.

According to the company, ECO-Nurture demonstrated the ability to eliminate harmful bacteria affecting kiwifruit plants without relying on the harsh chemical treatments commonly used in agriculture. This positions the technology within a growing global movement toward sustainable crop protection solutions.

Skin Elements is currently finalising negotiations for an exclusive distribution agreement with a leading rural cooperative in New Zealand. Subject to a definitive agreement being executed, the company expects to receive an immediate AUD 600,000 payment linked to the shipment of an initial 4,000 litres of ECO-Nurture for sale and distribution.

Beyond the initial rollout, discussions are also underway regarding ongoing exclusivity arrangements for the New Zealand market, potentially creating a longer-term commercial pathway for the technology.

Multiple Commercialisation Pathways

Unlike companies focused on a single product or market, Skin Elements has developed technologies across agriculture, personal care, skincare, cosmetics and disinfectants. This diversified approach may provide multiple avenues for commercial adoption as demand increases for safer, sustainable and plant-based alternatives. The company has continued to demonstrate practical applications for its technology. Its SuprCuvr disinfectant cleaner has been adopted by Spotless for the cleaning and disinfecting of train carriages and stations in Melbourne, highlighting the platform’s industrial potential.

Beyond agriculture and disinfectants, Skin Elements continues to progress opportunities across natural skincare, sun protection and cosmetics through brands including Soléo Organics, PapayaActivs and Elizabeth Jane.

Why Investors May Be Watching Now

The key focus for Skin Elements is shifting from long-term product development toward potential commercial execution. Investors will likely be monitoring upcoming milestones, including the execution of distribution agreements, further product adoption, and additional market entry opportunities.

The company also continues to benefit from the Federal Government’s R&D rebate program, helping support ongoing development activities while assisting with cashflow management.

As global industries continue searching for sustainable and safer alternatives to chemical-based products, Skin Elements is advancing commercialisation initiatives across several end markets. With multiple formulations approaching commercial readiness and agricultural partnerships advancing, the company may be entering an important phase in its efforts to convert years of research into long-term revenue opportunities.

SKN last traded at AUD 0.0060 on 28 May 2026.
