Highlights

  • Ark Mines has commenced an RC drilling program at its highly prospective Gunnawarra Ni-Co Project.
  • So far, AHK has completed 500 metres of drilling and has encountered lateritic material up to 40 metres deep across some locations.
  • AHK plans to expand the present drill program if encouraging preliminary assay results are reported.

Mineral explorer and miner Ark Mines Limited (ASX:AHK) has initiated Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling at its highly prospective nickel-cobalt targets within the 36km2 Gunnawarra Exploration Permit Minerals (EPM) located in North Queensland.

The drilling program is expected to be concluded in the next ten days with the first assay results anticipated in late May.

Objectives of the drilling program

The RC drilling program is designed to target known nickel-cobalt mineralisation in shallow laterites and other prospective mineralisation in some step out locations. The Company has already drilled up to 500 metres and has encountered lateritic material up to 40 metres deep in some locations.

AHK has been able to secure the drill rig early in the season enabling the Company to substantially ramp up exploration works at the project. The drilling program follows the success of a drone magnetic survey in which the Company reaffirmed extensive Nickel and Cobalt laterite mineralisation at the project.

The Company aims to test high priority targets and also assess the extremities of the mineralisation through the drill program.

Optimism surrounding Gunnawarra

The Company remains optimistic that the Gunnawarra can possibly emerge as a notable battery minerals asset and can grant AHK significant exposure to commodities such as nickel, cobalt, copper and scandium. These commodities are critical for the advancement and development of electric vehicles (EVs) and other renewable energy sectors.

AHK believes that, as a battery mineral exploration and development project, Gunnawarra has substantial potential in a proven Tier-1 jurisdiction for similar projects.

AHK continues with its exploration at Gunnawarra with an objective to unlock the true potential of its premium project.
