On Thursday, Corporate marketing agency R3D Global Limited (ASX: R3D) announced that it has been appointed by GBCI Ventures (GBCI) as GBCIâs strategic public relations and digital media communications agency for its Smart City Ecosystem in the Asia Pacific.
GBCI, based in Singapore, was co-founded by Douglas Gan and is one of the leading venture capital and venture builder in Asia. R3D would assist GBCI in the planning and execution of public relations strategy and marketing communications along with its start-up ecosystem. GBCIâs social media community would also be handled by R3D under its initial appointment term which will expire at the end of 2019.
The winning of GBCIâs strategic public relations and digital communications service agreement marks a significant achievement of R3D and follows the trend of acquiring high value and prominent clients. R3D is expecting stronger revenue momentum in approaching quarters, which is consequential to expanding client base coupled with engagement of senior talent. In the capacity of strategic public relations and digital media communications agency for GBCI, R3D will also manage various start-ups or companies funded by GBCI.

GBCI focuses on investing in start-ups in the early stage of opportunities in smart city technology, solution providers and communities involved in building a dynamic and adaptive smart city ecosystem. With US$100 million Smart City Development Fund, GBCI Ventures focuses on innovative technology start-ups such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Virtual reality (VR) and Internet of things (IoT).
GBCIâs first venture-built company is BCBGlobal. It develops a blockchain technology known as Building Cities Beyond (BCB) which serves as a platform for smart cities. BCBGlobal will reportedly launch Blockchain accelerator technology together with GBCI, and the venture fund has committed a minimum of US$10 million to invest in smart city projects developed by BCB Blockchain.
Douglas Gan, CEO & Co-Founder of GBCI, stated that the VC fund was in the necessity of a strategic partner with capabilities of PR communications for the creating a stronger presence in the region and build the Smart City Ecosystem. He mentioned the abilities of R3D in understanding the business and providing insights and strategies, and further expressed the excitement of working together with them.
Florence Fang, CEO of R3D Global, stated that both companies have a similar stance on improving cities through Smart technologies and innovations. R3D would use its capabilities to share the vision and mission in a broader scale to encourage more companies to be part of smart city eco-system.
