Global Uranium and Enrichment (ASX:GUE) completes scoping study for Hansen deposit at the Tallahassee Project in the US
Hydraulic borehole mining and high-pressure slurry ablation identified as preferred development methods
Project aligns with recent US government classification of uranium as a critical mineral
Global Uranium and Enrichment (ASX:GUE), listed on the ASX 200 index, has released findings from a completed scoping study focused on the Hansen deposit, part of the Tallahassee Uranium Project in Colorado. The project falls within the broader uranium sector, which has seen growing attention across the ASX resources landscape due to increased interest in energy security and alternative power sources.
Scoping Study Highlights Hansen as a Core Development Site
The company’s latest scoping assessment outlines a structured development pathway for Hansen. The deposit, situated in the Tallahassee Creek uranium district, is identified as a key component within one of the largest undeveloped uranium regions in the United States.
The study outlines a development approach incorporating hydraulic borehole mining. This technique has been described as effective for the orebody at Hansen, allowing extraction with reduced ground disturbance. Complementing this method, high-pressure slurry ablation is expected to be used to beneficiate ore onsite before processing, enhancing efficiency by reducing transportation needs.
Environmental and Infrastructure Considerations
A notable focus of the development plan involves minimising environmental impact. The proposed mining and beneficiation methods are tailored to achieve lower surface disruption compared to conventional extraction techniques. These decisions reflect broader shifts in both operational practices and public policy within the energy and mining industries.
Infrastructure planning is also under review, with the company advancing assessments on access, water usage, and other logistical requirements to support future development. As part of this process, Global Uranium and Enrichment is continuing work to optimise aspects of resource grade and operational integration.
US Policy Developments Reinforce Strategic Direction
The release of the scoping study follows recent policy moves in the United States that have reaffirmed uranium’s designation as a critical mineral. The Executive Order referenced by the company underscores the national emphasis on securing domestic supplies of key resources, as well as increasing mineral processing capacity.
According to the company, such policy changes create a favourable backdrop for uranium-focused entities operating within North America. The Tallahassee Uranium Project, which comprises five known deposits, is located within a recognised uranium belt that also connects to the Athabasca Basin, a significant contributor to global uranium production.
Broader Presence and Engagement at Industry Events
Global Uranium and Enrichment holds positions across key uranium jurisdictions in North America, supporting its long-term project pipeline. The company is scheduled to participate in the RIU Sydney Resources Round-up from 6–8 May, highlighting its ongoing industry engagement.
(ASX:GUE) continues to feature within discussions related to uranium sector developments under the ASX 200 umbrella, reflecting broader movements in energy transition themes and strategic resource development.
