 Market Update: Performance of Australian Equity Market on 7th April 2020

The Australian equity market ended in red at the close of session on 7th April 2020. The S&P/ASX200 closed at 5252.3 with a decline of 34.5 points or 0.65%. S&P/ASX 200 Consumer Staples (Sector) was down by 187.2 points and settled at 12,078.6. S&P/ASX 200 Health Care (Sector) witnessed a fall of 2.23% and stood at 42,748.0. At the close of same day, All Ordinaries went down by 0.42% to 5301.3.

Despite the fall in market, some companies on ASX managed to close in green such as PolyNovo Limited (ASX: PNV), which soared 15.821% to $1.940. EML Payments Limited (ASX: EML) inched up by 11.416% and settled the session at $2.440.

When it comes to New Zealand market, S&P/NZX50 went up by 0.47% to 9,810 at the close of session on 7th April 2020. Mercer Group Limited (NZX: MGL) surged 20.22% to NZ$0.220. Moa Group Limited (NZX: MOA) settled at NZ$0.168, reflecting a rise of 19.15%. On the other hand, New Talisman Gold Mines Limited (NZX: NTL) witnessed a sharp fall of 14.29% and ended at NZ$0.006 per share.

PolyNovo Limited Ended in Green on Australian Stock Exchange

PolyNovo Limited (ASX:PNV) recently announced that it has secured a debt financing facility of $9.3 million with National Australia Bank. The company would use this facility to finance the manufacturing equipment, hernia cleanroom construction as well as other capital expenditure. For the March 2020 quarter, its sales witnessed a rise of 166% against sales of March 2019 quarter. The company also notified the market with the results of CE Mark Burn Study, which assessed the integration of Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix (or BTM) into wound bed after application, wound healing after skin grafting as well as how the wounds healed over the span of time. As per the release, the safety of patients was also monitored.

EML Payments Limited Rose 11.416% on 7th April 2020.

EML Payments Limited (ASX:EML) has wrapped up the acquisition of Prepaid Financial Services (Ireland) Limited on 1st April 2020 on the renegotiated upfront acquisition enterprise valuation of GBP131.5 million. In another update, EML announced that, on 19th March 2020, Greencape Capital Pty Ltd has changed its substantial holdings and the current voting power of Greencape Capital Pty Ltd comes out to be 7.54% as compared to the previous voting power of 6.27%. For the first eight months ended 29th February 2020, the company reported gross debit volume (GDV) of $8.71 billion. Its revenue for the period stood at $79.6 million with gross profit margin of 75.9%. The company ended eight-months period with the operating cash flow of $22.8 million and cash balance of $278.6 million.
