Green360 Technologies Ltd (ASX:G360) successfully produces high-quality metakaolin from internal kaolin sources
Commercial-scale concrete trials launched in partnership with PERMAcast and Murdoch University
Enhanced product consistency and reactivity aimed at supporting structural concrete and low-carbon cement adoption
Green360 Technologies Ltd (ASX:G360), operating in the sustainable building materials sector, has made significant strides in advancing its low-emission cement strategy. The company, which contributes to the broader environmental agenda of the ASX 200 infrastructure and materials index, has completed the production of high-purity metakaolin using kaolin sourced from its proprietary deposits. This development marks a critical milestone in its mission to offer a viable alternative to conventional cement products.
Superior metakaolin quality confirmed
Laboratory results indicate that Green360’s metakaolin surpasses key quality thresholds, particularly in terms of amorphous content, a critical factor in determining its effectiveness as a supplementary cementitious material. The compound’s high reactivity enhances its application in concrete formulations, delivering improved strength and structural performance in comparison to traditional cement components.
Commercial-scale concrete trials underway
With successful lab validation completed, Green360 has progressed to large-scale testing of its metakaolin-based cement. In collaboration with PERMAcast, a well-known pre-cast concrete manufacturer, and Murdoch University, the company is actively evaluating the performance of its proprietary formulations in real-world concrete applications.
These trials are assessing a range of criteria, including handling characteristics, slump control, and thermal behavior during setting phases. The formulations have been specifically engineered to align with the performance requirements outlined in Australian Standards (AS 1012), ensuring compatibility with prevailing industry norms.
Rigorous performance evaluation across metrics
Concrete mixes prepared using Green360’s metakaolin are being monitored at different curing stages to analyze early and long-term results. Factors such as workability, admixture compatibility, and durability are key focus areas, providing insight into their readiness for commercial construction use.
The company emphasized that using metakaolin derived from its own kaolin resources enhances product uniformity, which is a known limitation in traditional SCMs like fly ash and slag. This consistency is expected to improve concrete's internal microstructure and durability across structural use cases.
Advancing toward market integration
Executive leadership at Green360 noted the transition from resource validation to formulation testing as an essential development in the commercialization pathway. By producing metakaolin internally and integrating industrial byproducts, the company aims to introduce sustainable alternatives to conventional Portland cement across the construction sector.
Green360's approach supports broader initiatives aimed at reducing construction-related emissions and improving building material resilience. As performance data from the ongoing trials with PERMAcast continues to be gathered, the company is preparing for wider implementation of its low-carbon cement solutions.
This initiative underlines Green360’s role in addressing the demand for greener building products, aligned with infrastructure ambitions across sectors represented in the ASX 200.
