US drug giant Moderna has shared that its experimental COVID-19 vaccine is 94.5% effective. This will be the second major breakthrough in the quest to curb the pandemic. Prior to this, Pfizer’s vaccine announcement made news. Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech claimed last week that their vaccine is 90% effective.
Meanwhile, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel shared that the positive interim analysis from the Phase 3 study has suggested that the vaccine can prevent COVID-19 disease.
The biotech company has received US$2 billion from the US government under ‘Operation Warp Speed’ and is all set to manufacture around 1 billion doses on global level in 2021.
