As per media sources, the Prime Minister is accused of a double standard for failing to charge those accountable for an airport deal in Sydney that costed taxpayers $30 million at the time when the land was worth mere $3 million. On the other hand, last week, Morrison accused Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate of using taxpayer funds to buy luxury watches for staff.

Morrison said that the chief executive Holgate has been instructed to stand aside and if she doesn’t wish to do that, she can go.

This created a furor and influencers including political commentator Peter Van Onselen and ABC’s chief political correspondent Laura Tingle mentioned that the comments made by the PM were of ‘breathtaking double standard’.

Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers too asked that if Holgate is persecuted for $20,000 worth of luxury watches by the PM, what happens to PM’s ministers who have been found paying $30 million to a Liberal donor for a $3 million piece of land.
