New South Wales (NSW) to shift towards renewable energy from coal and aims to attract $32 billion of private investment into the sector by 2030.
- The state decided to cut red tape and speed up approvals for businesses as four to five coal-fired power plants are anticipated to close in the next 15 years.
- The current renewable energy plans of the state are expected to generate ~ 10,000 jobs while bringing in 12 gigawatts of wind and solar power generation capacity.
