Market Close Commentary; 23 November 2020

Today the stock market gained 22.40 points and the benchmark index S&P/ASX200 finished at 6561.60, up by 0.34 per cent as compared to Friday's closure at 6539.20 points.

On 20 November 2020, Wall Street had a gloomy trading session, with the Nasdaq Composite dipped by 0.42 per cent, Dow Industrials declined by 0.75 per cent, and S&P 500 dropped by 0.68 per cent.

On Monday (23 November 2020), at AEDT 05:50 PM, the commodity section was trading as follows - the crude oil slightly surged by 0.66 per cent and was trading at USD 42.7 a barrel. The gold commodity insignificantly increased by 0.17 per cent and was trading at USD 1,874.70. 

The Australian dollar continued flat and was trading at AUD 0.7308 and bitcoin also was flat and trading at AUD25,250.

The stocks that increased the maximum during Monday (23 November 2020) are:  

  •  Mesoblast Limited (ASX:MSB) was again at the topmost position. It closed at AUD 4.280 and was up by 17.582 per cent.
  • Lynas Corporation Limited (ASX:LYCwas at the second-top position today. It closed at AUD 3.580 and was up by 5.917 per cent.  

The stocks that dived the most during Monday (23 November 2020) are: 

  • Insurance Australia Group Limited (ASX:IAG)  closed at AUD 5.130 and was dipped by 6.044 per cent. 
  • AVITA Therapeutics Inc (ASX:AVH) closed at AUD 6.000 and declined by 3.692 per cent.
