After early closing of trading yesterday due to a technical glitch, today the Australian stock market gained 13.90 points and the benchmark index S&P/ASX200 settled at 6498.20 points with an increase of 0.21 per cent. The trending stocks for Tuesday were - Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN),  AGL Energy Limited (ASX: AGL), Afterpay Limited (ASX:APT), and Centuria Industrial REIT (ASX:CIP).

On 16 November 2020, the Wall Street stocks rallied on Moderna's announcement that its experimental Covid-19 vaccine is highly effective against the Covid-19. The Nasdaq Composite was up by 0.80 per cent, Dow Industrials surged by 1.60 per cent, and S&P 500 increased by 1.16 per cent.

The commodity section on Tuesday (17 November 2020) at AEDT 06:17 PM, the crude oil surged by 0.34 per cent and was trading at USD 41.47 a barrel. The gold commodity slightly dipped by 0.04 per cent and was trading at USD 1,888.1. 

The Australian dollar remained flat and was trading at AUD 0.7319 and bitcoin jumped by 2.32 per cent and was trading at 22,900.3.

The stocks that increased the maximum during Tuesday (17 November 2020) are:  

  • Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield's (ASX: URW) gained the most today. It closed at AUD 4.650 and was up by 16.250 per cent. 
  • Whitehaven Coal Limited (ASX:WHCwas at the second-top position today. It closed at AUD 1.275 and was up by 8.050 per cent. 

The stocks that dived the most during Tuesday (17 November 2020) are:  

  • Charter Hall Group (ASX:CHCdipped by 5.952 per cent and closed at AUD 13.590. 
  • NEXTDC Limited (ASX:NXT)  declined by 5.914 per cent and closed at AUD 12.250.
