Australian fashion designer Alice McCall, on 9 November 2020, declared that her label has entered voluntary administration.
In a press release, McCall credited the collapse of the business to the uncalled impact of Covid-19 on the economic system.
As per the media sources, the administrative process shall be supervised by Ian Purchas of SV Partners.
The declaration came out just a few months after McCall launched a Chinese e-commerce site.
McCalls’s clothes, known for their highly patterned and feminine design, were considered apt and most preferred specially for social events.
Meanwhile, Purchas commented that the objective is to keep the business trading; however, he did not give any indication towards the size of the business’ debt.
He continued saying that SV Partners would twist the business model and concentrate more on the success of the online arm, reducing the footprint of stores.
This year has been a rather choppy one for Australian fashion. From the cancellation of fashion weeks to the shutdown of label stores and CEOs stepping down, the Australian fashion world has experienced the maximum strength of the Covid-19 induced pandemic.
