Australia introduces Subsidised flights to boost tourism as a move towards recovery

AS many as 800,000 domestic flights, in discounted rates will be offered to the Australians so that they can travel and explore their country and, in a way, give a boost to the sector. The Morrison government will also offer cheap loans to small tourism operators as part of this A$1.2 billion package to revive the sector.

It should be noted that Tourism, one of the biggest sectors of the country, is credited to have given jobs to around 5% people of the country and in total, is a worth A$60 billion sector. The industry was badly hit when the government had to shut its borders in the wake of COVID-19 induced pandemic.

Meanwhile, according to Morrison, the flights will be subsidised between April 1 and July 31 while the overseas remains closed.
