Tempest Minerals Ltd (ASX:TEM) has announced the commencement of an auger sampling program at its Range Project, located in the Mt Magnet region. The program aims to collect high-priority subsurface geochemistry data across the southern portion of the project area to support the definition of additional drill targets.
The program is being undertaken alongside preparations for a ~1,500m reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign, which is expected to begin soon.
Background on the Range Project
The Range Project spans 20 square kilometres within the Mt Magnet region, a well-established, multi-million-ounce gold mining centre that hosts numerous large-scale, long-life open pit and underground gold mines currently in operation.
Previous work by TEM included historical data analysis that generated several prospects, including the Wrangler Target. This target is characterised by gold and tourmaline-bearing felsic volcanics located along strike from the adjacent Britannia Open Pit and is one of the high-priority drill prospects currently planned.
Recent fieldwork has outlined multiple gold exploration targets along a 7km strike length, which are now being progressed through mapping, geochemical sampling, mineralogical analysis, and drill planning. These targets occur across several distinct geological settings.
In addition, rock chip sampling at the Cherokee Prospect returned gold grades of up to 1g/t, extending the strike length of prospective mineralisation to approximately 1km. This development has highlighted the potential for additional prospects further south, supported by the latest geological reinterpretation.
Auger Sampling Program Update
The ongoing auger sampling program is focused on the southern portion of the Range Project. The aim is to obtain geochemical understandings in areas obscured by surficial cover, where outcrop observation is not possible.
This work is expected to facilitate rapid generation and definition of further drill targets.
RC Drilling Program
The RC drilling program will test the Wrangler Target and several other mineralised zones across the tenement. Earthworks for drilling are already in progress.
Results from the initial drilling campaign are anticipated in mid-Q4 2025.
