Horse Heaven Project Overview
The project encompasses 729 federal lode mining claims spanning over 14,580 acres and hosts several past-producing gold, tungsten and antimony mines. The project has numerous priority targets, and shallow historical drilling has reported mineralisation from surface.
The project shares its boundary with Perpetua Resources’ Stibnite Gold Project, where historical production yielded over 980,000 oz of gold, 13.5 million pounds of tungsten, and 88 million pounds of antimony, accounting for 90% of U.S. antimony output during WWII and the Korean War.
Strategic Importance and U.S.-Australia Engagement
Horse Heaven hosts multiple commodities listed on the U.S. Critical Minerals List. The inclusion of the project in the requested briefing highlights the expertise of Australia in advancing responsible and secure critical mineral supply chains.
Antimony and tungsten are essential for the defense and technology sectors. The U.S. Government has implemented expedited permitting, grant programs, and equity participation to develop critical mineral projects. It aims to safeguard the country’s supply chain and reinforce its global position and its allies, including Australia.
Ongoing Exploration at Horse Heaven
Phase 1 drilling has been concluded at the project with results awaited. Additional programs are underway, including stream sediment sampling, rock chip collection and geological mapping.
