Highlights

  • EarlyBirds has announced a major initiative -- Battery Ecosystem Map -- in the field of electric vehicles and batteries
  • The solution tracks and monitors the comprehensive supply chain and ecosystem, with access to latest innovations
  • Battery Domain Atlas and Domain Monitor provide an interface to explore and assess results, create projects, and apply workflow to activities

EarlyBirds -- co-founded by Jeff Penrose and Kris Poria as a global open innovation ecosystem -- has unveiled Battery Ecosystem Map, which tracks and monitors the worldwide battery technology supply chain and ecosystem. This is a major announcement by the Australia-based company, which hosts millions of innovations by startups and scaled-up companies, in the field of booming electric vehicle (EV) and battery technology industries.

The company has announced that its Battery Ecosystem Map would monitor the comprehensive supply chain and ecosystem, right from the mining of rare earths that are extracted through specialised mining practices to recycling of products.

Modern battery technology

EarlyBirds' latest step is in view of the growing EV market, which it says is "having its moment" not only in the world's biggest economy the United States but across developed and developing countries. Notably, modern battery technology depends on a variety of rare earth minerals, which after mining are processed and refined to be used as raw materials in battery production. From anode and cathode to electrolytes and electronic components like sensors, the supply chain is quite enormous.

It is also pertinent to note that in spite of the growing demand for EVs on a global scale, the biggest challenge even today is giving a big push to production so that things become affordable for the masses. This undeniably requires work in the battery technology sector.

EarlyBirds' solution

The Battery Ecosystem Domain Atlas contains  requisite information of the startups, scaleups, and mature companies working in the core battery themes and sub-themes. These themes include everything -- from mining and refining of rare earths  to manufacturing of cells to production of modules and battery packs to eventual needs for the circular economy including recycling and reuse.

The Battery Domain Monitor tracks news and media articles -- both historical and latest developments -- that can pave the way for informed decision making and enhanced collaboration and outputs. The Battery Domain Atlas and Domain Monitor -- having a comprehensive interface to explore and assess results, create focused projects, and apply workflow to activities -- can be used by availing the services of EarlyBirds' platform. The company also provides access to two programs, namely Explorer and Challenger, for solving technical and business problems faced by organisations.

More information on the company’s Battery Ecosystem Map can be accessed at earlybirds.io, while information for organisations looking to adopt innovations and latest developments is available at https://earlybirds.io/en/early_adopter.
