Highlights
- Catalina Resources has completed approximately 1,600 metres of drilling at Breakaway Dam, with the program approaching completion.
- The drilling campaign has intersected multiple zones of sulphide mineralisation, consistent with the project’s copper-rich VMS system.
- Assay analysis has been prioritised, while upcoming DHEM surveys are expected to refine targets for the next phase of drilling.
Catalina Resources Limited (ASX:CTN) has announced that its drilling campaign at the Breakaway Dam Copper Project in Western Australia is nearing completion, marking a significant step in advancing understanding of the copper-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system of the project.

Drilling Program Approaches Completion
The current drilling effort at Breakaway Dam is expected to conclude within days. With approximately 1,600 metres drilled, the program concentrated on evaluating conductor thickness and continuity identified through downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys.
Drilling has successfully intersected the intended conductor positions. Furthermore, the program has intersected multiple zones of sulphide mineralisation in all holes, aligning with the interpreted VMS system.
Evidence Supports Copper-Rich VMS System
Breakaway Dam has been interpreted as a copper-rich VMS system, supported by geological characteristics, observed sulphide assemblage and associated geophysical responses. Earlier campaigns recorded copper intersections, with individual intervals approaching approximately 2% Cu, with mineralisation extending up to around 8 to 9 metres.
The presence of zinc- and copper-bearing sulphides continues to support the interpretation of a copper-rich VMS system.
Assays Prioritised as Next Phase Begins
Following encouraging field observations, samples from the current drilling program have been fast-tracked for laboratory analysis. In parallel, DHEM surveys are scheduled to commence to refine the geometry of the system, with DeepVision Geophysics mobilising to site. DeepVision Geophysics will assist in detecting off-hole conductive zones, generate additional high-priority drill targets and refine the sulphide bodies.
Preparation for the next stage of drilling is in progress and will be further adjusted once assay results and DHEM survey data are received. This is anticipated to support ongoing drilling activity at Breakaway Dam, as the company continues efforts to determine the extent of the system and evaluate its mineralisation potential.
The nearing completion of the current drilling program at Breakaway Dam represents a continued step in delineating the scale and continuity of the copper-rich VMS system. With assays pending and further geophysical surveys about to commence, Catalina Resources is preparing for the next phase of exploration aimed at advancing understanding of the project’s mineralisation potential.
