Altech Batteries Limited (ASX:ATC) has reported significant progress across its CERENERGY® Salt Battery and Silumina Anodes™ Battery Materials projects in its latest update for the six months ended 31 December 2025. The company is progressing project funding discussions with European lenders while also expanding its ownership in both projects.
CERENERGY® Project Funding Progress
During the half-year period, the company reported progress in financing activities for its CERENERGY® Salt Battery Project, with a large European bank currently in the process of being formally mandated. The bank’s technical due diligence team is undertaking a final site visit as part of the assessment phase.
The company’s application for a federal government guarantee and documentation required are in progress. Project equity discussions are also progressing alongside the financing process.
Altech is seeking a 49% strategic partner to support the equity component of the project. In addition, the company has secured offtake letters of intent covering the first five years of production.
Increased Ownership in Battery Projects
Following shareholder approval at a general meeting, the company acquired additional interests in both the CERENERGY® and Silumina Anodes™ projects from Altech Advanced Materials AG.
The transaction increased Altech’s ownership of the CERENERGY® project to 75%, while the Fraunhofer Institute remains a 25% joint venture partner. At the same time, 25% interest was acquired in the Silumina Anodes™ project, bringing its ownership to 100%.
As part of the transaction, the company issued approximately 532 million shares to Altech Advanced Materials AG, which now holds around 21% of ATC. The updated corporate structure is intended to support project financing initiatives and potential partnerships.
German Government Grant Process
Altech Batteries GmbH is progressing its application for government support under Germany’s STARK economic development program.
The CERENERGY® battery project has passed the second stage of approval, making it eligible for a 30% capital expenditure grant valued at €46.7 million. The grant remains conditional and subject to financial close as well as final approval through the German government’s 2026 budget process.
Battery Prototype Development Milestones
Research and development work on CERENERGY® battery technology has achieved several technical milestones. Prototype cells have completed more than 650 charge cycles without capacity loss, alongside near 100% coulombic efficiency and energy efficiency levels of up to 92%.
Testing has also shown operational stability under challenging conditions such as overcharging, deep discharge and thermal cycling of up to 300°C.
The company has also developed a next-generation battery pack concept capable of delivering 90 kWh of energy, an increase from the earlier 60 kWh design, while maintaining the same casing and without any changes in infrastructure.
Progress in Silumina Anodes™ Battery Materials Project
Altech’s Silumina Anodes™ project reported new test results for silicon-enhanced battery anodes. After 500 cycles, the technology achieved 88.5% capacity retention when using a 5% silicon addition, with repeat tests confirming results above 88% retention.
The project’s pilot plant in Saxony is producing coated silicon material for further testing.
Samples have also been supplied to a major battery manufacturer for evaluation.
Capital Raising to Support Battery Projects
In the latest half, the company secured funding to support development activities across its battery technologies. The company completed a AUD 6 million placement at an issue price of AUD 0.045 per share.
The funding is intended to support several initiatives, including advancing project financing for CERENERGY®, completing the 90 kWh battery prototype, and assessing plans for a 4 GWh gigafactory for large-scale production.
Altech Batteries continues to advance multiple initiatives across project financing, technology development and strategic partnerships. Progress in the CERENERGY® battery system, government grant processes, and silicon anode technology development forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to expand its battery materials and energy storage portfolio.
ATC shares were trading at AUD 0.024 per share at the time of writing on 13 March 2026.
