4 Small Cap Mining Stocks - VAN, ARS, KIS, BMG

VAN, ARS, KIS, BMG are small cap Australian companies involved in the mining space. The stocks have all produced decent returns on a YTD basis. Lets us have a glance at the financial performance of the companies during the latest half-yearly period along with its stock performance.

Vango Mining Limited (ASX:VAN)

Vango Mining Limited (ASX: VAN) recently announced exceptional gold intersections from the geotechnical and resource confirmation drilling at its Trident gold deposit and the wholly?owned Marymia Gold Project, 300km northeast of Meekatharra in the Mid?West region of Western Australia.

On the financial performance front, the loss for the consolidated entity after providing for income tax amounted to $2,387,018 as compared to $1,660,014 on 31 December 2017. No equity accounted loss from the SARCO joint venture was accrued during the half year. Interest on borrowings and convertible notes decreased substantially to $280,942 as compared to $689,006 in the prior corresponding period following the repayment of loans. Corporate overheads were $2,131,710 vs $972,135 in 31 December 2017 and reflects significant increase in exploration activity.

Several months have been spent by the company in reviewing and validating the historical drill hole data at the Boudie Rat and Forrest Belle open pits.

The group has incurred a loss of $1,934,860 for the half year ended 31 December 2018 as compared to a loss of $3,375,080 on 30 June 2018 funded by raising share capital.

King Island Scheelite Limited (ASX:KIS)

King Island Scheelite Limited (ASX: KIS) belongs to Australia’s mining sector, concentrates on redeveloping its wholly-owned Dolphin Tungsten Project situated in Tasmania.

On the financial front, the net loss for the company stood at ~$1.5 million in H1 FY19, increased by 151% over the prior corresponding period. The cash on hand as at 31 December 2018, stood at $1,552,599 as compared to $494,360 in June 2018.

The company raised capital twice in the interim period to 31 December 2018, providing cash funds of $2,868,878 for the issue of 44,348,918 new shares and 15,580,737 new options. The exercise price for the options is 10 cents with an expiry date of 1st August 2021.

BMG Resources Limited (ASX: BMG)

BMG Resources Limited (ASX: BMG) is into the exploration of minerals. It is focusing on the lithium brine in Chile. The company is trying to undertake the exploration and development of three lithium brine projects located in the world's best lithium district, Atacama, through a recently signed JV agreement with Chilean lithium explorer, Lithium Chile SpA.

On the financial performance front, the group reported a loss of $395,031 for the period ended 31 December 2018 compared to the loss of $126,047 in the prior corresponding period of 2017. BMG reported cash outflows from operating activities of $261,964 as compared to cash outflows from operating activities of $98,046 in the prior corresponding period. The principal activities of the company involved mineral resource exploration and development during the half-year period.

The stock of BMG Resources Limited at market close on 12 April 2019, was trading at $0.009, with a market capitalisation of $5.02 million. It has generated a YTD return of 12.50%.
