Dynamic Metals Ltd (ASX:DYM), listed on the ASX 200, has made an important discovery at its flagship Widgiemooltha Project in Western Australia. The exploration results have unveiled a new gold zone at the Cognac West prospect, a key site within the company’s portfolio. This is part of an ongoing exploration effort that aligns with broader mining sector activity in the region, contributing to the dynamics of the ASX 200 index.
Phase One Drilling Results at Cognac West
Dynamic Metals recently concluded phase one of its reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at Cognac West, with a focus on the underlying gold mineralisation at anomalies A and B. This drilling effort involved multiple drill holes, extending across an extensive area, and returning valuable assay data from the site. Among the standout results, drill hole WDR041 recorded an 8-meter interval at elevated gold grades. Additional drilling results confirmed the broad spread of low-grade mineralisation with notable higher-grade zones, further enhancing the overall understanding of the area’s geological potential.
Exploration Focus on Anomalies A and B
Anomaly A was targeted based on surface observations of quartz veining, which had previously yielded high gold grades in rock chip samples. However, the drilling results in this area revealed lower gold grades within saprolite zones. Despite this, a new gold trend approximately 500 meters to the east has been discovered, pointing to the possibility of larger mineralisation trends in future phases of exploration.
On the other hand, drilling at Anomaly B has proved more promising, with several holes encountering broad low-grade mineralisation. In particular, drill hole WDR034 returned a significant 44-meter gold interval, with higher-grade gold encountered in specific sections. The most notable result came from drill hole WDR041, where an 8-meter section returned a gold grade surpassing previous expectations. This high-grade zone is now a focus for further drilling to understand its full extent.
Ongoing Exploration Plans
The completion of phase one drilling has set the stage for more refined geological modelling and further drill testing. The results, especially at Anomaly B, suggest the potential for valuable gold mineralisation, and the company is planning follow-up drilling to better understand the mineralisation's extent, both along strike and down-dip. One-meter assays for composite samples exceeding low gold concentrations are expected to be returned in late May, which will play a crucial role in guiding the next steps in exploration.
The exploration team at Dynamic Metals is committed to refining its models based on the new findings, and phase two drilling is set to begin shortly. This next phase aims to explore deeper sections of the gold zones, with a focus on structural targets that may indicate additional resources.
With phase one of the drilling program complete, Dynamic Metals Ltd is moving forward with further exploration at its Widgiemooltha Project. The initial results from the Cognac West prospect have laid the foundation for continued exploration, and the company’s methodical approach to refining its geological understanding is paving the way for future drilling campaigns.
