The Igrejinha project in Brazil targets spodumene-bearing pegmatites in Lithium Valley
Drilling activities to evaluate mineralized corridors are set to commence with a local contractor
Perpetual Resources Ltd (ASX:PEC), included in the ASX All Ordinaries Index, is active within the lithium mining segment, a sector that supports electric mobility and renewable energy systems. Lithium is a key component in battery manufacturing, and demand from battery-grade mineral producers has led to increased exploration in regions such as Brazil’s Lithium Valley.
Igrejinha Project Advancements
Perpetual Resources Ltd has confirmed the start of drilling activities at its Igrejinha project, located in Minas Gerais. A contract has been executed with ServDrill Brazil for a structured drilling program. Prior groundwork at the site revealed notable spodumene-rich pegmatites aligned along a northeast-southwest corridor. Outcroppings identified during preliminary efforts supported further subsurface investigation.
Geological Context and Mineral Occurrence
The Igrejinha site shares a similar geological setting with other lithium-rich tenements in the region. Early sampling activities recorded mineral concentrations that attracted attention to the pegmatite’s formation and scale. In addition to lithium oxide, caesium was also present in multiple assays, underlining the zone’s mineral diversity.
Strategic Location Near Established Projects
The project’s close proximity to large-scale lithium operations, including Sigma Lithium and CBL, places Igrejinha within an established mining corridor. These nearby operations are recognized for their low production costs and scalable infrastructure. The geographic placement supports logistical efficiency and alignment with ongoing mineral extraction activities in the broader Lithium Valley zone.
Exploration Objectives and Timeline
The upcoming drilling campaign focuses on assessing surface-exposed formations along a defined pegmatite corridor. The program is structured to span several hundred meters and is expected to inform further decisions based on mineral occurrence and structure. Geological mapping, combined with core sampling from the drilling phase, will contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the project.
