Iltani Resources (ASX:ILT) shifts focus from Orient West to Orient East for its infill drilling program
Completion of VTEM surveys at Orient and Herberton projects with additional flight lines included
Core samples from both sites are undergoing processing ahead of assay submission
ASX-listed silver and base metals explorer Iltani Resources (ASX:ILT), part of the broader ASX 200 index, has commenced its JORC-compliant infill drilling program at the Orient East site. This shift follows the conclusion of drilling activities at the Orient West location, with both areas situated within the Herberton Mineral Field in Northern Queensland.
The company has demobilised its diamond drill rig after completing four drillholes—two each at Orient East and Orient West. These core samples are currently being logged and processed and are scheduled to be cut and dispatched for assay in the coming period.
Completion of VTEM Survey and Data Processing Phase
Iltani Resources has concluded a versatile time domain electromagnetic (VTEM) survey at the Orient project site. The data collected through this helicopter-borne operation is now undergoing processing, with results expected in the coming weeks. The company’s geophysical consultants have conducted an initial review of the raw survey data and recommended additional infill flight lines based on early indicators.
To support further analysis, additional survey lines were flown across the Boonmoo epithermal system and near the Union Jack deposit. This extension is designed to enhance understanding of the subsurface mineral structures and anomalies within the Orient System and Boonmoo Sag Caldera.
Orient East JORC Infill Drilling Program Underway
At Orient East, Iltani Resources has initiated its JORC infill drilling program, comprising a series of reverse circulation drillholes. The planned campaign will span several weeks and aims to further delineate shallow, high-grade mineralisation already identified in previous assessments at both Orient East and West.
The company has completed two initial diamond drillholes as part of this program, and the core from these holes is currently undergoing detailed geological logging. These samples are slated for assay testing once processing is finalised.
Herberton Project Expands with Focused Exploration Strategy
The Herberton Project comprises a large area of wholly owned tenements positioned near the mining town of Herberton. The region is recognised for its extensive mining history, particularly for tin, and has also produced tungsten, copper, silver-lead-zinc, and other minerals.
With a total survey area encompassing several hundred square kilometres, Iltani Resources is leveraging both geophysical data and traditional drilling techniques to gain a deeper understanding of the mineral systems within the area. Following the receipt of VTEM survey results, the company is expected to design a follow-up drilling initiative to evaluate the lateral extents of the Orient mineralisation system and validate new anomalies in the Boonmoo Sag Caldera region.
Assays and Results Expected in the Coming Period
The company anticipates a steady flow of assay results in the upcoming months, covering drillholes from the Orient West program, core samples from recent diamond drilling, and data from the ongoing Orient East infill drilling. The completion of VTEM data analysis will further support the planning and implementation of the next exploration phase within this prolific mineral field.
