Highlights:

  • Connected Minerals (ASX:CML) transitions drilling to its Swakopmund Project following completion at Etango North-East.

  • New drill program at Swakopmund focuses on areas mapped through electromagnetic surveys.

  • Exploration continues to focus on uranium targets with geological features aligned with prominent regional systems.

Connected Minerals (ASX:CML), part of the energy exploration segment on the ASX 200 index, is continuing its drilling campaign in Namibia with preparations underway at its Swakopmund Project. This move follows the conclusion of its maiden reverse circulation drilling program at the Etango North-East Project.

Swakopmund Drill Campaign Initiated

The Swakopmund Project has been earmarked for the next round of drilling after the identification of new geophysical anomalies through a horizontal-loop electromagnetic survey. The company has confirmed the presence of paleochannel systems based on recent survey results. The planned drill campaign includes over a dozen drillholes aimed at tracing subsurface uranium-rich zones.

This development follows a strategic exploration timeline, with drill rig mobilisation already in progress. The current program intends to verify subsurface features previously outlined through surface sampling and geophysical data.

Completion of Etango North-East Program

At the Etango North-East Project, Connected Minerals expanded its original drilling scope due to geological observations recorded during the early stages of the campaign. The drilling extended beyond the planned layout after encountering alteration zones and Alaskite lenses in several holes.

These Alaskite formations show characteristics similar to structures at the Etango Uranium Project operated by Bannerman Energy (ASX:BMN), which also holds significant uranium tenure in the region. Connected has noted that these similarities will be studied further in future field programs.

Geological Progress and Sampling Insights

The shift in drilling focus follows a rock-chip sampling exercise completed earlier. Sampling efforts had pinpointed multiple areas with elevated uranium concentrations, prompting further subsurface investigation. The results were integrated into the drill targeting model to refine the exploration footprint.

In-field geophysical analysis is ongoing, with a dedicated team currently conducting downhole gamma probing to further characterise mineralised intervals and aid in subsurface mapping. These data are expected to refine the understanding of uranium distribution within the target zones.

Exploration Strategy and Corporate Decisions

Connected Minerals is focusing on rapid execution across its Namibian asset base. In a recent update, the company reported the cancellation of a prior acquisition agreement for EPL9576 with SAA Investments. After conducting an internal review, the board concluded that the project’s characteristics did not align with the exploration direction currently being pursued.

Connected’s portfolio in Namibia consists of three uranium-focused projects. The company has been expanding its presence in the region through successive stages of field activity, including geophysical surveys, rock-chip sampling, and drill campaigns.

The Etango North-East and Swakopmund projects are both positioned within established uranium corridors, enabling alignment with broader regional geological frameworks. As Connected continues its technical programs, it remains focused on evaluating mineral systems with documented geological continuity.
