FireFly Metals intersects high-grade copper-gold-zinc mineralisation at the Rambler Main Mine in Newfoundland
Initial drill holes indicate strong geological links to the nearby Ming Mine within the same VMS system
Drilling efforts support broader exploration strategy across Green Bay’s historical mining zones
FireFly Metals Ltd (ASX:FFM), (TSX:FFM), a base metals company listed on both the ASX 200 and TSX indices, has confirmed high-grade copper-gold-zinc mineralisation at its Green Bay Copper-Gold Project in Newfoundland, Canada. The discovery stems from the initial drill campaign at the historical Rambler Main Mine, located close to the company’s existing Ming Mine.
Early Drilling Results Extend Mineralisation
The first two holes drilled into the Rambler Main zone have revealed significant polymetallic mineralisation. These findings were intercepted in areas previously considered underexplored and extend known mineralisation beyond historical working limits. Geological characteristics observed in the new core samples demonstrate similarities to the nearby Ming Mine, particularly their formation within the same volcanic massive sulphide (VMS) system.
Core visuals from the initial hole show mineral-rich zones located beneath semi-massive sulphide horizons, reinforcing geological continuity and extending known zones deeper into the system.
Reviving a Historic Production Site
The Rambler Main Mine, active during the mid-20th century, previously yielded copper, gold, and zinc ore from relatively shallow depths. FireFly’s current drilling indicates that mineralisation persists far below the historical mining floor, opening new exploration horizons within the same host stratigraphy that supported past extraction.
This latest phase of exploration supports the broader model of VMS-style mineralisation across the Green Bay district. The continuity of the mineral system and its spatial link to multiple nearby prospects enhance the geological framework for further systematic drilling.
Strategic Operations and Resource Growth
FireFly’s ongoing work at Green Bay includes simultaneous underground and surface drilling, with six rigs in total deployed across priority zones. While surface drilling has resumed at Rambler Main for deeper step-out testing, a similar campaign at the nearby East Mine has concluded, and assay data is expected soon.
The company’s Green Bay landholding comprises a substantial footprint, incorporating multiple former mining sites. Ground and airborne geophysics, field mapping, and geochemical sampling are also active across the property. The exploration program is designed to continually evaluate and test high-interest zones throughout the calendar year.
Positioned for Project Advancement
As of the end of March, FireFly reported a strong balance sheet with sufficient liquidity to continue accelerating its resource definition efforts and feasibility studies at Green Bay. This financial foundation supports the infrastructure expansion required for further underground development and mineralisation delineation.
With exploration momentum building and geological validation aligning with historical and modern models, the company continues to focus on growing its footprint in the region and defining new mineralised zones within its large-scale VMS district.
