Evion Group (ASX:EVG) welcomes national highway rehabilitation in Madagascar under World Bank program
RN10 project enhances access to the Maniry Graphite Project and aligns with European Union infrastructure goals
Broader transport initiative supports economic growth and supply chain integration in southern Madagascar
Evion Group (ASX:EVG), a resources company listed on the ASX 200, has welcomed the launch of the RN10 national highway rehabilitation project in Madagascar. The initiative was officially inaugurated by President Andry Rajoelina and forms part of the World Bank-supported ‘Connecting Madagascar for Inclusive Growth’ program. The RN10 route traverses a vital corridor near Ampanihy, which serves as the closest major centre to Evion’s fully owned Maniry Graphite Project.
This road development connects the RN7 at Andranovory to the RN13 at Ambovombe, covering a significant stretch that includes six districts and over two dozen communes in the southern regions of Atsimo-Andrefana and Androy. The project’s phased rollout has already commenced, with construction efforts starting from the Ampanihy side of the corridor.
RN10 Project Enhances Regional Connectivity
The RN10 highway upgrade is designed to create a continuous transport link with improved pavement structure, bridge infrastructure, and dedicated shoulders. These improvements are expected to support efficient logistics and transportation throughout the southern regions of Madagascar, which have historically faced infrastructure limitations.
Evion Group highlighted that this infrastructure enhancement strengthens the logistics capabilities for the Maniry Graphite Project. The proximity of the upgraded RN10 to the project site provides streamlined access to key distribution points, including ports and airports, which are essential for supply chain integration.
Support for Broader Transport and Development Goals
The RN10 development complements other transport-focused initiatives in the region, including works on National Roads 13 and the recently completed Kiembe Boulevard in Toliara. The boulevard connects the main port and airport facilities, offering direct freight access that bypasses congested city routes. These developments collectively contribute to an integrated transport network across southern Madagascar.
Evion has stated that the RN10 project also aligns with broader European Union infrastructure goals. The company is actively engaged with related EU grant applications, with this transport upgrade reinforcing strategic objectives tied to sustainable development and economic expansion.
Long-Term Vision for Maniry and Southern Madagascar
According to Evion Group (ASX:EVG), the ongoing rehabilitation of the RN10 supports Madagascar’s national vision for infrastructure-led economic advancement. By linking remote and underdeveloped regions with major trade routes, the initiative is expected to facilitate increased participation in global supply chains focused on critical raw materials.
The strategic location of Maniry within the enhanced transport corridor underscores its logistical relevance. With the RN10 cutting directly through Ampanihy, the regional hub near Maniry, the project is positioned within a broader framework to enable efficient movement of goods and services across key industrial zones.
Evion’s position in this evolving infrastructure landscape places it within one of the most significant development corridors in Madagascar’s south. The integration of road, port, and airport facilities forms a unified approach to economic growth through improved access and streamlined freight operations.
