The ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) has raised initial worries about the proposed acquisition of Adelaide Tools and Oaklands Mower Centre by Bunnings.

  • ACCC considers that the acquisition may reduce the competition in the market for tools and outdoor power equipment space in Adelaide;
  • The ACCC believes Adelaide Tools as Bunnings’ strongest and closest competitors for the supply of tools and outdoor power equipment;
  • The ACCC shall further consider the extent to which other tool and outdoor power equipment retailers will constrain Bunnings and Adelaide Tools post-acquisition;

The ACCC is expected to give its final decision by 23rd April 2020.
